Each language: A rich palette of subtle shades
Dear Sir or Madam,
Every author is in many respects an artist, constantly seeking new shades of meaning from his or her palette of words, in order to convey his or her message as accurately as possible. That holds true not only for literary works, but also for official documents and professional articles.
This also represents a tremendous challenge for translators, because each language has its own special palette of words, each with its own shades of meaning.
That was the challenge which Mr. Singer faced in 1936 when he embarked on a career as a translator in the very heart of Brussels. He grew up in a quadralingual household and later, when he was working as a translator for the UNO he learnt to appreciate the value and importance of a translation which is accurate in every respect. The creation of Singer Translations was a logical step for him in his goal of improving understanding between the various linguistic communities.
Since it was set up in 1936 Singer Translations has become a truly European concern. Our translation service’s infrastructure and expertise have evolved considerably, in particular over the last ten years, and technology and data processing facilities have become increasingly sophisticated.
The removal of European borders represents an ongoing challenge and opportunity for Singer Translations to develop its services nationally and internationally. This brochure is designed to translate that dynamism.
